Laurel Victoria Livingston, age 70, passed on August 1, 2020, at Humber River Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, Canada from complications due to Sickle Cell Disease. She was born on January 23, 1950, in Duanvale, Trelawny, Jamaica to Charles and Mildred Victoria Campbell. She immigrated to Canada in 1981 to join her sister Theslyn where she later married John Livingston. Laurel was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She was also known as the lady who could take any simple piece of fabric and turn it into the most beautiful garment. Her hands were not just talented in fashioning garments but held a green thumb which could bring a dead plant back to life. Laurel suffered from the effects of Sickle Cell Disease all her life but through it all, her faith in God kept her spirit strong and her belief in God’s promise of life for “threescore years and ten and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years”, gave her the courage to keep fighting through the years. Laurel is survived by her two daughters, Karen Johnson and Lisa Bailey; her sisters, Evelyn Campbell and Hyacinthia Campbell; her brother, Leeman Campbell; 28 nieces and nephews; along with many great-nieces and nephews. All of whom she loved and touched deeply. She was predeceased by her mother and father; her husband; her sisters, Sylvia Plummer (née Anderson), Theslyn Anderson (née Campbell), and Dorothy Campbell; her brothers, Roy Calvin, Lawrence Calvin, Dermot Campbell, and Ridley Campbell as well as 4 of her nephews.
