My heartfelt condolences to the family of Maxine who she truly adored and loved with all her heart. When I heard the news, it was so shocking, I still can't believe it, she is gone. I remember the time and years we worked together. It is very sad to hear. I pray family finds comfort and peace as they continue their dairy lives with a missing piece of the puzzle. RIP

Junior, Mariah, Jalen, Nicholas and family please accept my condolences & prayers.
From the first day I met Maxine at Royal Daycare in Toronto she captured my heart with her kindness and that smile. She was the teacher of my first Son Jhordane & then my daughter Keke that was 29 years ago. Her faith & family meant the world to her & everybody knew!! Our friendship continued right into us being co workers at The Region of Peel.
A piece of my heart is missing, but I will not question God.
All I ask is that he takes great care of his newest Angel Maxine in Heaven.

My daughter Robyn and Maxine oldest Nicholas use to take the school bus together. Maxine and I would stand at the bus stop until the kids got on the bus. Then we walk and talk until it was time to go our separate ways. I will never forget our conversations. You were an amazing mother to your children. I will continue to pray for the rest of the family.

On behalf of the Miller-Skerritt family, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the entire Gardener family.
A close friend, colleague and sister in Christ, my heart is broken. Maxine and I were not related by blood, but by extension.
Over the past 17 years of sisterhood, I was blessed with the opportunity to mentor, coach and support her in career planning.
Maxine excelled in her professional discipline, she supported families exposed to domestic violence, it takes a special person to build, care and foster relationships...that was Max.
Maxine and I understood each other, she was a strong woman of God, she walked with integrity and loved her husband Junior, her children and family to the moon and back.
I still hear her voice saying "I'm running to Danforth, nuff tings on sale girl".
Maxine had a heart of gold, her smile and infectious laugh will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace Max and rise in Glory!
xoxo

I worked with you for over 14 years you were always my first point of contact when I came to work at the shelter. Your smile would light up the room and remember that you were always on the phone with Junior . You taught me to put all of my trust in god because his power, love , and miracles are everlasting. We formed a CHAYIL prayer group at the shelter you ensured that we were consistent in meeting weekly to talk laugh and share. Maxine it was truly an honour and a blessings to have your foot print etched across my heart and life . Earth may have a dark place because you have left but heaven welcomes you and lights the path for your feet . I love you girl my condolences to the Gardener family for their loss

We meet in high school she was timid just like me. But she was always smiling and full of life. When she meet her husband she stated that he was the men she was going to marry. So god listen and next thing I know I’m at her wedding. Maxine was a women of god and now he has called to his side. I am angry at him but I know he knows what’s he’s doing. But this is not a good bye Maxine I will see you on the other side Maxine Bernard with all our memories. My Thistletown friend.

Hey Max, it's so hard to find the words to express how much I miss you. The thought of not seeing you again tears me up inside.
Deepest condolences to Bro Junior, Nicholas, Jalen and Mariah. God is your strength.
If tears could build a stairway,
and memories were a lane
I would walk right up to heaven
And bring you back again
No farewell words were spoken
No time to say goodbye
You were gone before I knew it
And only God knows why
My heart still aches in sadness
And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
No one will ever know
Since you'll never be forgotten
I pledge to you today
A hallowed place within my heart
Is where you'll always be
SIP IN PEACE MAX.

To Brother Junior, Nicholas, Jalen and Mariah, we love you. Sis Maxine was our rock. Always smiling, almost never complaining but always providing us with strength. Always giving, of her time and herself to the cause of the Kingdom. She let her light shine before men and they saw her good works and glorified our Father in Heaven. Though the Lord saw fit to call her home, she will always be with us. She was truly one of a kind. We will always love her and never forget her.
