Obituary of Neville Lorenzo Samms

Neville Lorenzo Samms, fondly known as Junior, was born on May 20, 1963 in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica W.I. He was the first of six children for Neville and Cynthia Samms. It was in St. Elizabeth and the neighbouring parishes that Junior spent most of his childhood and young adult years, in pursuit of his educational development. He began at Barbary Hall Primary School, then on to St. Elizabeth Technical High School, and Beaumont Comprehensive College.

Neville accepted Jesus as his personal Saviour in 1981 and became interested in ministry. A strong desire to spread the gospel, led him to enroll at the Assemblies of God Bible College in Montego Bay in 1984, then later transferred to the Christiana campus in pursuit of his theological studies.

In his late twenties, Junior embarked on a new journey where he enlisted at the Bethlehem Teachers’ College to pursue a teaching career (patterning after both his parents) to equip himself in shaping the minds of students in achieving their academic goals. After leaving College his services were employed by the Nain All Age School where he worked for several years.

Junior’s entrepreneurship skills led him to operate a small haberdashery in the community of Barbary Hall for about two years supplying the local residents with basic commodities.

In 2000, Neville migrated to Canada to pursue his dreams. Here he worked in various capacities at several local companies in the North York Province of Toronto. In 2010, Neville joined a local church where he renewed his commitment to the Lord.

A service celebrating the life of Neville, who passed away on December 20, 2021, will be held at the New Haven Chapel at 7025 Legion Rd, Mississaugua, ON, L4T 1A8.

Neville leaves to mourn daughter Amelia, brothers Noel, Howard (Karen), Kingsley, Keith, sisters, Kaydene (Clive), and Stacey. He also leaves Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, a host of Cousins, and other relatives and friends.

The family of Neville thanks everyone for their prayers and condolences in this time of bereavement.
