It hard to believe Patrick is no longer with us, he was missed after he retired, and he will be missed even. He had a great sense of humour and always had a fun attitude with him in and out of the workplace. May he rest in peace.

No words can truly express the loss felt by Patrick's passing, my hearfelt sympathy to his family. Patrick, my treasured friend of 35 years, didn't just live life, he gave life to others! I give thanks for his enrichment of my life's journey. He was a master craftsman of words who passionately created beautiful poetry, lyrics & music. I respected the great pride and responsibility he expressed toward his family. I will greatly miss his support & encouragement but will take comfort in the joyous memories that shall live on.
May time soften the pain of your loss.

Our first meeting with Patrick came by way of Joyce Swaby in 2004 and at that moment it was an instant bond. He was an integral part of family gatherings where he showcased his love of music through singing and drums. A storyteller like no other Patrick always managed to put a smile on our friends faces sharing stories of his experiences when he first came to Canada or his adventures in Jamaica and the countless times he got into hot water with is Mama as he affectionate called her. His twists of common words such as politics to politricks or chicken to trickin' made for interesting conversations at our home. When he was diagnosed with cancer, it devastated us but we kept providing words of encouragement the same way he provided words of encouragement to us when one of our family members were sick. In summary, Patrick Barrington Betty was a man of character, integrity, wealth of knowledge and an all around decent human being. The world got a little bit dimmer when your light was extinguished at the age of 69. You will be greatly missed by our family and you would always be to our family, a son, a brother and an amazing friend.
Our deepest and sincerest condolences to the family and friends Patrick has left behind.
Rest in Everlasting Peace Patrick.
With love always,
The Swaby Family

Patrick,
It was a pleasure working with you, you taught me a lot about the character of people and that people are not always as they appear. I hope you understood my naivety and forgive my early mistakes. Your love of life and music stays with us. Keep on rocking in the heavens.

I learned a few days ago about Patrick's passing from the Swaby Family.
I was so sad to hear he had lost his long, brave battle. The world is less for losing such a great person. A father, a husband, a talented singer/song writer, musician, engineer, and the list goes on and on. No one I have ever known could tell a story quite like him with his complex wordplay, you were always just trying to keep up with his speed and wit. With a quick smile and an infectious laugh, it was always a pleasure to be in his company. I will miss him. I wish him a peaceful rest, but am strengthened to know that he watches over us and that we will see him again one day. He will greet us with open arms and a big smile.
Please accept my deepest condolences.
Regards,
Ilya Adam

My Condolences to the family of Patrick Betty, May the good Lord Bless and comfort you all in this time of sorrow. Patrick was a well Loved person at Bombardier, if you’re having a not too good day and you see Patrick walking in the plant when you speak to him you know he’s going to uplift you with his conversation & you would be laughing all the way - that’s just how Patrick is ( he will make a bad day a better day)
As everyone who knows Patrick he has two distinctive things about him ( his walk and his infectious smile) he always says encouraging things to people to uplift them. Patrick was also talented as a Musician & a Poet but he was not into the commercialize music he was more into the conscious Music and Poet to uplift culture and open our eyes about life and history.I will never forget his positive & inspirational words through his songs, poems and conversations. He was also a well Knowledge person who also knows culture and history very well ( as you can see in his songs) & was very proud to discuss it. I will miss my friend and big Brother May his soul Rest In Peace “ Patrick we will all miss you brother”

I met Patrick when he came to work at De Havilland in 1990. He was so full of life and energy. His passion for music and poetry and family were what made him such an inspiration. He cared deeply about his family and friends. I miss my best freind who was always there to listen, encorage, support or challenge me . His laughter was infectious and he could make a bad day good again. He fought couragely to ensure he left a legacy of good music and poetry for his family. My condolences to Carolee and his children. My eternal gratitude to Carolee for taking care of him lovingly and selflessly. I still smile when I think of Patrick.

My condolences to his family. I will always remember Patrick as a supporting and very good friend whom I shared many good memories with. He was always ready to help and carried a wonderful smile that would brighten up anyone's day. Patrick was man of God, truth and love. He is now on a journey back to his Maker - "The Almighty" - "Jah" - in his own words. May God bless Patrick's soul. I will miss Patrick.

Patrick was a great soul, and a lively and exemplary person, whom I had the pleasure to know and enjoy conversing with, no matter if it was a quick friendly chat in the office in which his wit and humour was the source of joy and pleasure, or if it was a deep and philosophical conversation on serious and important matters, in which he enlightened the audience with his thoughtful words. He is not between us, but his deep and meaningful thoughts as well as good memories of him stay with me forever. May he rest in peace.

Such strength... Patrick was many things to many people. For me Patrick fought so hard and at the same time had smile and a great attitude throughout. I met Patrick decades ago just youngsters entering the gates to deHavilland, are many talks during union meetings and me elbowing him when he would fall asleep. He was a philosopher, a singer, entertainer and should of been a novelist. Sad that you are gone, but happy you have no more pain. My sincere condolences to your family God bless

I am so happy I got the opportunity to speak with Patrick the last days of his life. Patrick was a very happy, lively, jovial, comical, person, just very easy going. I have this imagine in my head, the last time I spoke with him, in the long service parking lot at work, and he said, "I am retiring". He had this happiness in his eyes. Most times we talk about our kids. He was very proud of his children and their achievements. He spoke fondly of his grand children. He was truly a family man. The world lost a good soul.
My deepest condolences goes to his entire family.
