Obituary of Hyacinth Pashurr Squire-McFarlane

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hyacinth Pashurr Squire (nee McFarlane) who passed away peacefully at her home in Brampton, Ontario on Monday, December 21st, 2020 surrounded by her loved ones.

Born in Mollison, Manchester, Jamaica on August 17th, 1941, Hyacinth came to Canada in November 1973 and throughout her career, she worked as a Dietary Aide at Cara Flight Kitchens and several long-term care homes in the GTA including Peel Manor in Brampton from which she retired.

She is survived by Gilbert, her devoted husband of 29 years, daughter Marlene, grandsons Mark and Jeroen, five great grandchildren, sisters Phyllis (William), Pearl, Lorna (Arthur), Esmine (Stephen), Ilette (Owen), Beryl (Brenton) and Eda Mae and brother Stanley (Stephanie), many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.  She is pre-deceased by her parents Olga and Rudolph McFarlane, sisters Ruby (Beris) and Viviene and brothers Wesley (Hazel), Calvin (Eileen) and Orville and other relatives.

A fantastic cook, Hyacinth was known for the many wonderful meals she enjoyed preparing for family and friends, the kindness shown to lifelong friends and heart-filled memories with the people she helped and hearts she touched.  She loved life and lived it with passion and a flair all her own.

The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to all the doctors, nurses and PSW’s who cared for her with respect and love and to all the friends and loved ones who kept her spirits high.

Limited viewing will take place on Saturday, January 2nd, 2021 at New Haven Funeral Centre in Mississauga (registration required) and celebration of life service will follow in the chapel at 11:00 a.m.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions a limited amount of seating is available, the wearing of masks and physical/social distancing are mandatory.
