Annie Smith

Obituary of Annie Alvarine Smith

It is with deep sadness that the family of Annie Alvarine Harris-Smith announces her passing on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at the age of 83 in Brampton, Ontario.
“Miss Annie” as she was fondly known, was born in Johnstown, St. Thomas, Jamaica to Prinnela Heslop McNeish and Deacon Ira Harris. She grew up and went to Johnstown Primary School and later became a seamstress, a profession that proved useful when she later migrated to Canada in 2001.

Miss Annie often returned to Jamaica where she was a vibrant and well respected elder in her community in Port Morant. She had a keen interest in current affairs and politics—both locally in Jamaica and internationally.
Miss Annie found great strength in her faith as a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church family and attended the Bramalea Filipino Canadian Seventh Day Adventist Church in Brampton, Ontario and the Port Morant Seventh Day Adventist Church in Jamaica, where she formerly served as Choir Director.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in law, Gauntlet (Georgia), Shaun (Annette), and Othneil (Donna-Dean), her 10 grandchildren, her sisters Jean and Monica and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her sisters Peggy and Pearlina.
