Obituary of Jibri H James

“A wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which were the names of the TWELVE TRIBES OF THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL.”

Jibri “Jahbi” Husani James, also known as “Ras”, was born on May 6, 1979 under the tribe with a character of great faith, Simeon. Ruled by the ears, Jahbi was not only a listener and recipient of knowledge, but a man of wisdom which he used to educate the people. He tragically passed in Toronto, Ontario, on Monday, July 9, 2018 at the young age of 39. He was a loving son to Kathleen Grant and Alexander James. A cherished father to Zolah and Te'Jah. Dear brother to Delroy Henry, Latanya James, Tashesha James, Tamasha Grant, Shamara Grant, predeceased by Jahmara Grant and a special partner to Cisley Hughes. 

Jibri was also a loving and protective uncle to niece Dionna and nephews Qing, Aries, Deyshon and Nikhai. As a mechanic, tradesmen, provider, father figure and role model to many young men and women, he leaves his legacy of unity within the community.  Jibri’s impact is reflected in the hundreds of calls received and messages on social media from family and friends, young and old whose lives he touched and changed.  His direct approach and unmatched energy, upbeat spirit, guiding wisdom and sense of humor brought light and laughter to many.  His eternal spirit, strength and the power of his unlimited kindness continues to wash over those he leaves behind.
