Obituary of Olga May Pinnock

Olga May Pinnock (née Badley) passed away peacefully on January 3, 2022 with family by her side. She was 89 years old, just 3 weeks shy of her 90th birthday. Olga was pre-deceased by her husband Burchell L. Pinnock to whom she had been married for over 65 years at the time of his death. She leaves five children (Hyacinth, Steve, Yvonne, Howard and Andrea) and eight grandchildren.

Born into a large family in Clarendon, Jamaica, Olga was a fiercely independent, intelligent and resourceful woman. At the age of 18, she had already embarked on her chosen career, becoming what was then known as a “pupil teacher” (teaching intern) of English literature. But life had other plans and, soon after, she met and married Burchell and they started a family. In later years, she became his business partner and was instrumental in helping to build a very successful tire and automotive business from the ground up in Kingston, Jamaica.

Sadly, in her final years, Olga suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. But we will always remember her as an energetic, creative problem solver, a biting wit, the best cook ever, a loving wife and our beloved mother. Rest in peace Mommy
