Obituary of Percival Patrick Holder
In Loving Memory
Percival Patrick Holder
March 9, 1958 – April 29, 2022
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Percival “Percy” Holder. Beloved son of the late Percival Eustace Holder and Josephine Vera Smith-Holder. Proud Father to Shawna, Lisa, Gavin, Percina, Naomi and Ruth. Former spouse to Diana Holder. Brother to Gail, Violet, Godwin, David, Winston, Eldon, Dilorece, Mark, Dolly and many more. He will be missed dearly by his beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues, relatives and friends.
Born in Bartica, Essequibo, Guyana, Percy came to Canada as a young man and quickly established himself as a leader in the Ottawa community. He graduated from Algonquin College and worked as a chief auto-body mechanic and journeyman at OC Transpo where he led the repair and reconstruction of damaged buses in the Ottawa-Carleton Region. He was also involved in numerous community organizations including the National Council of Guyanese and Jaku Konbit. His entrepreneurial efforts across the province led to him being known lovingly as the owner of Percy’s Cab, Say Johnny Light Mover’s and the Snow Kone Man.
He spent his final years returning to his home country supporting the village of Kuru Kururu where he has become affectionately known as the Chief.
Percy will always be remembered as a man who faced it all while standing tall doing it his way. His bravery was only matched by his love and devotion to his family. You will be missed dearly. May you now find joy and peace with the Creator and our noble ancestors.
Love You, Forever
