Obituary of Godlyn Garnet Findlay

On Saturday February 4, 2023 Godlyn Garnet Findlay, a loving mother of three, grandmother of six, and first born of fifteen siblings, passed away at the age of 72, due to stage four uterine cancer.

Godlyn was born on August 26, 1950, in the District of Clarendon in May Pen, Jamaica to Rachel Mitchell and Vincent Findlay. She was a mother to a loving son, Junior Nelson and two daughters; Elaine Ricketts and Judith Bromfield whom has unfortunately passed away seven years ago.

Godlyn was a hard-working woman who spent the majority of her life caring for the elderly. She was a companion to those with Alzheimer’s and Dementia and her care and compassion were only amplified through her love of God and unwavering faith. She was a devoted Christian who would spend hours studying scripture and singing praise throughout her days. She loved to meet and talk to new people unafraid to speak of her love of the Lord. She migrated to Canada in the early 1970s and lived a life between Canada and the US, finally settling in Canada the mid-1980s. In her later years, she spent her time with her great-grandchildren. She believed children were a true joy and blessing and loved to spend all her free time with her babies. She will definitely be missed and remembered in the hearts of those near and dear to her.

Godlyn was a mother to three children: Junior, Elaine & Judith; Grandmother to four: Ricardo, Jermaine, Tameka & Doen; Great-Grandmother to eight: Nyla, Zackariyah, Javon, Aziiriyah, Ariel, Xauna, Isla, & Juna
