Obituary of Wilba Berisford Grant

On Sunday February 19, 2023 Wilba Berisford Grant, a caring husband, a loving father of three, grandfather of five, and the eighth child out of nine siblings, passed away at the age of 72, due to stage four gastric cancer.

Wilba was born on September 19, 1950, in the small District of Lottery in St. James, Jamaica to Bernice and Lindell Grant. He raised a daughter: Chantel Green; also, two sons: David Grant, and Adrian Grant whom has unfortunately passed away twenty-two years ago.

Wilba was a hard-working man who took great pride in getting up every morning and going to work at Elbee Meat Packers as a butcher for over forty years until he retired in August 2016. He was perhaps the best conversationalist in the world. He could talk about every and anything for countless hours; especially about family stories and the word of God. He always made sure to give you a word of wisdom as well. He found much pleasure in spending time with his grandchildren for they were his pride and joy. Wilba’s zest for life will definitely be remembered with love long after his passing.

Wilba was preceded in death by his father: Lindell Grant; mother: Bernice Grant; brothers: Tyrell Grant, Alvin Grant, Hetford Grant, Tubal Grant; sisters: Jeanette Hyman, Pauline Maxwell.

Wilba is survived by his wife: Jacqueline Grant; his one daughter: Chantel Green; one son: David Grant; five grandchildren: Maya Green, Jeremiah Green, Nehemiah-Nathan Green, Zachariah Grant, and Zyra Grant; one sister: Joan Andrews; one brother: Wesley Grant; sister-in-law’s: Dazrene Grant, Ena Grant; and adoringly, remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
