Obituary of Eulalee Henrietta Christian

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eulalee Henrietta Christian, aged 97, on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Centenary Hospital in Scarborough, Ontario. Eulalee brought joy, wisdom, and love to all who knew her and will be deeply missed.

Born on April 11, 1926, in the quiet community of Savannah Cross District in the Parish of Clarendon, Jamaica, Eulalee was a radiant beacon of love and light. Her life's tapestry was woven with threads of devotion, resilience, and unwavering faith.

Eulalee knew the Lord as her personal Savior.  Although she did not attend church on a regular basis, she loved quoting passages from the Bible (especially the 23rd Psalms) and singing many of the old hymns.

Eulalee's earliest chapters were etched in courage and strength. She embarked on her educational journey at Cross Primary School in Palmers Cross, Clarendon with curious enthusiasm. As an energetic young girl, she ventured into the workforce as a teenager, embracing a spectrum of roles that molded her into the multifaceted woman she became. From the spirited days of pedaling her bicycle through the veil of night, to her battles against illness that marked the twilight of her earthly sojourn, Eulalee stood firm, an embodiment of courage.

As an entrepreneur, Eulalee kindled the fire of her ambition, traversing from being a seamstress to the owner of a mobile fabric business, selling fabrics door-to-door. This venture sprouted roots, blossoming into her own variety store in Chateau District, Clarendon.

Eulalee's heart was overflowing with compassion, her hands were always extended to assist those in need. A wellspring of kindness and generosity, she touched countless lives, leaving ripples of goodwill that spanned generations. Her journey took her from the beautiful island of Jamaica to the embrace of Canada, where she and her husband embarked on a new chapter in pursuit of a brighter future for their children.

Alongside her parents, Maud Park and Robert Bell, Eulalee was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wyman George Christian, and her sister, Lily Francis (née Jarman).

Eulalee's legacy is carried on by her sister Dorothy McNeil, her special nephew Silburn Scott; her cherished children: Yvonne, Paul, Sandra, Garth, Nerline, Noveline, Fred, and Ralston; her seventeen precious grandchildren: Sabrina, Patrick, Kisha, Davina, Stephen, David, Roxanne, Immanuel, Ezra, Kamilah, Jamilah, Ashanti, Danielle, Matthew, Sherika, Michelle, Timothy, and her fourteen great-grandchildren, each a testament to her enduring love. Eulalee's embrace also encompasses a tapestry of stepchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and neighbors.

A celebration of Eulalee's life will be held at New Haven Funeral Centre. Friends and family are invited to gather, share stories, and honor her memory.
