Obituary of Audley Newland Wellington Colquhoun

Audley Newland Wellington Colquhoun was born February 21, 1947, in Beeston Spring, Westmoreland.  He was the third of five children born to his parents Kathleen and Cleveland.

As a young man he moved to May Pen, Clarendon to better himself and there he met the love of his life, Delreet.

He migrated to Canada in August 1973 to join Delreet. They married on October 9, 1974, and the union remained unbroken until her passing on October 3, 2021. Delreet and Audley did not birth any children and so they decided on adoption. In 1993 their daughter, Andra joined the family.

Audley worked a variety of jobs before finding his passion, which was driving. His lifelong work as a DZ truck driver helped him discover many cities in Ontario and to him finding one of his great loves, Tim Hortons. You could not go anywhere with him without stopping at Timmies for a small coffee.

In 1978, after hearing the word of the Lord preached, he was convicted in his heart and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour. He was a member of Bibleway Church of Jesus Christ, under the leadership of the late Bishop Lionel and Pastor Etta May Bryan for many.  He continued his work in the kingdom of God at Rest Tabernacle under the pastorship of Bishop E.R. Thomas until his passing. He served as an usher and treasurer for the Men’s department and an ordained Deacon.

Earlier this year he expressed a desire to see his family in Jamaica after not visiting for 16 years.  He and his daughter travelled to Jamaica on September 23rd to reunite with his family and see a generation he had not met yet.  On September 30th he suddenly fell ill and was admitted to the Black River hospital in St. Elizabeth where he was diagnosed with pneumonia.  Prayers went up to God constantly for his recovery, but the Lord saw it fit to call him home on Thursday, October 12, 2023.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Delreet, parents, Kathleen & Cleveland.  He is survived by daughter, Andra, siblings, Elsa, Cynthia, Kingley and John, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews.  May his soul rest in peace!
