Obituary of Carlene Avanda Reid-Smith

It is with heavy hearts,that we announce that on October 31st, 2023 after a long battle with cancer, Carlene Reid-Smith passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones. 

 

Carlene was born on January 3, 1966 in Top Mountain, Jamaica and is the beloved daughter to Dexter and Shirley Reid. Carlene is survived by her devoted husband Gary Smith, her loving children Shaunna Charlton, and Malik Lawson. Adored step children Renee Melbourne, Falesha Raquel Walters, Gary Smith, Gemel Smith, Givani Smith, Joshua Smith. Beautiful grandchildren Kiyah Smith,Gia Smith, Hannah Melbourne, Leah Melbourne. Cherished siblings, Linford Reid, Donnette Reid, Sonia Reid, Albert Reid, Otis Reid, Oliveth Tulloch, Dexter JR. Reid, Judith Reid, Cassandra Reid.  As well as numerous sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.

 

Carlene had a successful career and worked at FedEx, where she dedicated 22 years.

Carlene was known for her warm presence and vibrant personality. She had a way of brightening up any room she entered with her genuine smile and positive energy. Her kindness and compassion were evident in her interactions with others, and she always went out of her way to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement.

 

In her free time, Carlene enjoyed gardening. She had a green thumb and took great pride in tending to her flowers ,plants & vegetable garden. Her garden was a reflection of her nurturing spirit and served as a peaceful sanctuary where she could find solace and joy.

 

Carlene was a dedicated wife to Gary Smith. Their bond was built on a foundation of love, trust, and mutual respect. They shared many adventures together and created countless cherished memories that will be held close to the hearts of those who knew them.

 

As a mother, Carlene was an unwavering source of love and support for her children, Shaunna and Malik. She was their guiding light, offering guidance and encouragement every step of the way. Carlene's love knew no bounds, and her children were her pride and joy.

 

Carlene's grandchildren held a special place in her heart. She adored spending time with them, watching them grow and thrive. She showered them with love, affection, and wisdom, creating lasting bonds that will be treasured by her grandchildren for years to come.

Carlene was a cherished family member to all. She had a close-knit family, and her siblings held a special place in her heart. She was there for them through thick and thin, offering her support and love unconditionally. Her nieces and nephews looked up to her as a role model and confidante, knowing they could always turn to her for guidance and advice.

 

Carlene's presence in the lives of her extended family and friends will be deeply missed. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved. Whether through her warm hospitality, her delicious home-cooked meals, or her genuine interest in their lives, Carlene had a profound impact on those who had the privilege of knowing her.

 

While we mourn the loss of Carlene Reid-Smith, we take comfort in the memories we shared with her and the legacy she leaves behind. Her unwavering love, kindness, and zest for life will continue to inspire us all. Carlene's spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, reminding us to cherish each day and embrace the love that surrounds us.

 

In lieu of flowers, monetary contributions can be made to the family but are not required.

 

Carlene Avanda Reid-Smith will forever be remembered as a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many and left an indelible mark on our hearts. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
