Obituary of Michael Junior Powell

Michael Junior Powell, passed away on the morning of November 10, 2023, at the age of 73, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, on June 4, 1950, Michael leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and valuable friendships.  

Michael is survived by his beloved partner Norma Lobban, and his loving children Michael and Natalie Powell, and stepsons, Milton & Wayne.  Michael was a cherished grandfather to Malik, Melany, Madison, Maxen and Myan, and doting Step-Grandfather to Joel, Kathie-Lee and Kayla.  Michael is survived by his siblings: Viviene, Lavern, Maxine & Dawn.  

Michael is preceded in death by his mother, Eltha Campbell, father Helwood Powell, siblings, Barry, Marlon, Melony & Lorna.

Known for his friendly and humble demeanor, Michael was a familiar face in the neighborhood. Often found in his garage playing music as he greeted neighbors and people passing by with a warm smile. Michael effortlessly played the role of “Pops” to many his junior. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched with his kindness, warmth, and humble spirit.
