Obituary of Marva Aleatha Pinder

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marva Aleatha Pinder who was born on October 27, 1941 in St. Michaels Barbados to parents Louise (Worrell) and Hamilton Pinder. Marva was the only girl among 4 boys growing up.

Marva’s career in nursing began at the Barbados Mental Health Hospital, for 4 years before she left Barbados in 1965 to pursue a Psychiatric nursing career in Canada and worked in Manitoba and Ontario. For many years she worked at the Penetanguishene Psychiatric Hospital until she retired from nursing to become a caseworker with the Ontario Disability Support Program.

Marva loved to travel to visit her brothers in Barbados and England. She also loved serving in her church where she was involved with teaching Sunday school, leading youth groups and serving on various committees.

After a lengthy illness, Marva died peacefully on April 28, 2024, 42 years to the day after her beloved mom’s death in 1982. She is predeceased by her twin sister Lorna and older brother Oswald Pinder. She is survived by her brothers
