Obituary of Maudlyn Millicent Morris

Mrs. Maudlyn Millicent Morris age 90, of Mississauga by way of Sheffield England, passed away Saturday morning on  February 16, 2019, at her residence.

She was born February 13, 1929, in Tangle River in the parish of St. James in Jamaica, daughter of the late Isaac and Clara Reid. Maudlyn then moved to Sheffield England where she lived for 30 years prior to moving to Canada to retire to live with her son and his family.

Maudlyn was pre-deceased by her husband John Alexander Morris of 37 years, two brothers, Eugene Reid, Clinton Reid; one sister Vera Clark and daughter-in-law, Sylvia Erskine.  She was a member of the New Testament Church of God in Sheffield England where she served as church secretary for 18 and a half years and worked as a Nurse’s Assistant for 30 years at the Nether Edge Hospital.  Following the passing of her husband Mass John, Maudlyn retired and left her beloved England and moved to Canada.  Her contributions during this time to her church community are too numerous to count and is remembered as The Mother of her church.

Maudlyn is survived by one son and one daughter-in-law, Cleveland George Erskine and Yvette Erskine; two grandchildren Alistair Erskine and Tamique Erskine; one sister, Millicent Thompson of Silver Springs, Maryland and two brother’s Ryland Reid, Birmingham England and Wilfred Reid of Deltona, Florida. Maudlyn, affectionately known as Girlie, Mother Morris and Granny, also leaves behind many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
