Obituary of Mr. Colin Henry & Mrs. Veronica Dekid-Henry

In Loving Memory of

Veronica Hyacinth Dekid-Henry

1955 - 2022

It is with profound sadness that we announce the tragic death of Veronica Hyacinth Dekid-Henry (Hopey) on September 21, 2022.

She was the loving daughter of Ena Madge Smith and Albert Arthur Dekid. The beloved wife of Colin Fitzgerald Henry for 29 years and the loving mother of Alpha and Daniel Henry.

The cherished sister of her siblings, treasured cousin and adoring aunt to many nieces and nephews all around the world.

Born in Portland, Jamaica on January 13, 1955 — Hopey dedicated her life to family, church community, and students.

Hopey immigrated to Canada in 1993, where she got married and started a new life.

She graduated from Humber College in 2000 and worked for 20 years as an Early Childhood Educator.

Hopey was recently enjoying a life of retirement, including travelling to Jamaica, gardening, and volunteering at the Kingsview Village Seventh-day Adventist Church Foodbank.

Despite the former, Hopey would want to be remembered as a servant of the Most High God.

She will be greatly missed and will live in our hearts forever.

It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic death of Colin Fitzgerald Henry on September 21, 2022.

He was the loving son of Leila Francina Henry and Joseph Nathaniel Henry. The beloved husband of Veronica Hyacinth Dekid-Henry for 29 years and the loving father of Ruth Aguirre, Joshua, Alpha, and Daniel Henry.

Born in Georgetown, Guyana on March 18, 1954 — Colin dedicated his life to family, church community, and gardening.

The cherished brother of his siblings, treasured cousin, and adoring uncle to many nieces and nephews all around the world.

He immigrated to Canada in 1989, where he began a pen-pal relationship with his future wife, Veronica. They married in 1993 where they spent 29 years in Toronto, building a home, expanding their community, and becoming a part of the history of their neighbourhood.

Colin dedicated his life to gardening, from the early 90s till his death, he volunteered all his free time to the Kingsview Village Seventh-day Adventist Church Garden.

Starting in 2001, Colin was a diligent worker for Purolator till his retirement in 2019.

Despite the former, Colin would want to be remembered as a servant of God Almighty.

He will be greatly missed and will live in our hearts forever.

The family is asking for those attending the service to wear all white and or vibrant coulors.
